PREVENT-iT 

Summary:

Complications following joint replacements include wound drainage and joint infections that frequently require additional surgeries. A pivotal focus lies in exploring cost-effective interventions to mitigate such complications and infections. PREVENT-iT aims to identify the optimal irrigation fluid and local antibiotic regimen to mitigate risk of infection requiring reoperation within 12 months following primary or aseptic revision hip or knee replacement. This global randomized controlled trial will encompass 21,006 adult patients, undergoing evaluation at 6 weeks and 1 year following their respective procedures.
